Join us Tuesday evenings in October to learn about local Norwegian history, with Petra Gunderson-Leith. This week's presentation will be about lefse factories in Clay County, past and present!
Join us to learn about local Norwegian history with Archivist Petra Gunderson-Leith, from the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County. This installment will be about Lefse: a nostalgic holiday treat that connects many Scandinavian Americans to their roots. For many, that connection comes from the process of making lefse, but for many others, it comes from simply eating it. For decades, lefse factories have existed locally to help keep the tradition alive. Fifty years ago, an army of local women at Norwegian Maid Lefse in Ulen kept the supply going. Today, you can get your fix from Carl’s Lefse in Hawley or Freddy’s in West Fargo.
The presentation is open to all ages, and free-of-charge. Registration is not required.
