Join us Tuesday evenings in October to learn about local Norwegian history, with Petra Gunderson-Leith. This week's presentation will be about Red River historian and artist, Orabel Thortvedt.
Join us to learn about local Norwegian history with Archivist Petra Gunderson-Leith, from the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County. This installment will be about Orabel Thortvedt (1896-1983), a daughter and granddaughter of Norwegian immigrants. As a prolific local historian and talented artist, Thortvedt spent most of her life telling the story of Norwegian immigration through the lens of those who came from Fyresdal, Vest Telemark, and settled along the Buffalo River in Clay County, MN. Her vast documentation has made her an icon of local history. The presentation is open to all ages, and free-of-charge. Registration is not required.
This learning series is part of the annual One Book, One Community project. For more information on this year's title and events, visit 1book1community.org/.
