This week's Senior Social will start with a presentation about Minnesota's Braille and Talking Books Library, which provides free library services statewide for anyone with vision challenges.
Join us for a Senior Social Special event! Learn more about free services available through the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS), a program sponsored by the Library of Congress. Anyone with a vision impairment, or a qualifying learning disability, is eligible for this service. Library materials (such as audiobooks) are sent free of charge by the U.S. Postal Service. Patrons can request library materials through the online library catalog, as well as by telephone, email, and/or postal mail. A large number of books and magazines are also available to download from Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD). Each state offers the service; in Minnesota, the Minnesota Braille and Talking Book Library (MBTBL) is funded through Minnesota state general funds and Federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant money from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.
The presentation is being offered free-of-charge. Refreshments will be provided.
