This dynamic program will feature artists performing poems which demonstrate the varied experiences of Minnesotans. This program is appropriate for ages 16 and up and may feature topics sensitive to some listeners. Admission is free thanks to funding from the Minnesota Art & Cultural Heritage Fund. 

This program will feature poets Fatima Camara, Donte Collins, Shane Hawley and Kevin Zepper, with Kyle "Guante" Tran Myhre serving as emcee and performer, and will be held at the Historic Holmes Theatre (806 Summit Ave, Detroit Lakes). A reception will be held following the performance in the Holmes Ballroom featuring refreshments and the opportunity to mingle with the performers, sponsored by the Becker County Friends of the Library. 

About the Presenters:
Fatima Camara is a writer, poet and author of “Yellowline,” which was published through the Akashic Book and the African Poetry Book Fund. Donte Collins (they/them) is a neurodivergent afro-surrealist blues poet, playwright, and movement artist named the Inaugural Youth Poet Laureate of Saint Paul, Minnesota. Shane Hawley is a writer, performer and a 2010 National Poetry Slam Champion. Kevin Zepper is a Minnesota State University Moorhead instructor and the author of several poetry chapbooks including “Moonman” and “The Shaman Said.” Learn more about the series here.
