Join Erika Gilsdorf as she discusses the various storytelling tools she has utilized over the years, focusing on her latest one: podcasting. Sponsored by the Detroit Lakes Library Club.
In partnership with the Detroit Lakes Library Club, the Detroit Lakes Public Library is pleased to welcome Erika Gilsdorf to the library for a presentation on storytelling, including an overview of the various storytelling tools she has used over the years with a particular focus on her most recent storytelling tool - podcasting. All are welcome and the program is offered free-of-charge.
About the Presenter
Erika Gilsdorf became an Initiator Fellow in January 2026 through the Initiative Foundation and West Central Initiative. Through this fellowship, she has launched a podcast, The Global Grit Experience, that seeks to inspire and empower environmental stewardship and climate action in our communities. Erika has been involved in storytelling since 2007 using a variety of tools to reach people including video, social media, radio, print, television broadcast, and now a podcast. She's worked with entities such as Lakes TV3/Leighton Media, National Geographic, The Nature Conservancy, and many others locally and worldwide. She has received multiple awards for her work.

Music will be provided by Heart o’ Lakes Harmony, which is a male chorus that consists of members throughout lakes country in NW Minnesota. They are an a cappella group whose harmonies are rooted in Barbershop. Their group is part of the Barbershop Harmony Society, which is an international organization which promotes and preserves the original art form of barbershop singing.
The mission of the Library Club is to promote interest in our Detroit Lakes Library and develop an understanding of culture, the arts, programs and affairs in our community since 1907.

Detroit Lakes Public Library
The Detroit Lakes Public Library is located in downtown Detroit Lakes at the intersection of Washinton Ave. and Frazee Street. The library offers two meeting rooms, four study rooms, a legal kiosk, free Wi-Fi and much more.
