In honor of Banned Books week, Books and Brews Book Club will meet at Drafts' Sports Bar and Grill to discuss "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury.
This year, in honor of Banned Books Week, we are reading a book that has not only been often challenged but deals with themes of censorship and book burning. Originally published in 1951, Fahrenheit 451 is a dystopian novel set in a future society where the main character, Guy Montag, is a "fireman" whose job is to burn books and the houses of book owners. He slowly beings to question the destruction and joins a rebel movement in the hope of rebuilding a society where literature and critical thinking are no longer crimes.
The Books and Brews Book Club meets the fourth Tuesday of every other month to discuss what they've been reading and enjoy beverages. Appetizers are provided by the Friends of the Library. Participants are responsible for the cost of their own food and drinks. All adults are welcome and no registration is required.
The Crookston Public Library is located at 110 N. Ash St. next to the old Carnegie Library. The Crookston Library offers study carrels, a private meeting room, and the beautiful River Room for your individual use or group meeting needs.
