Winter Preparedness
What We Know, What We’ve Lived, and What We Can Do Now
Wednesday, November 18
6:30pm - 7:30pm
Join Polk County Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Madison McConnell for an interactive conversation about practical winter preparedness.
Winter weather in northwest Minnesota can bring much more than snow. Power outages, dangerous travel, extreme cold, communication disruptions, and other emergencies can quickly change our normal routines.
Join Polk County Public Health Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Madison McConnell for an interactive conversation about practical winter preparedness.
Participants will discuss real-life experiences, work through a winter power-outage scenario, and explore simple steps households can take to prepare. Topics will include emergency contacts and support networks, reliable sources of information, household supplies, extended power outages, winter vehicle preparedness, and making a plan that fits your household. Whether you are just getting started or have years of experience preparing for Minnesota winters, everyone is encouraged to come share what they know and learn from others.
