Evening Sewcial Club
Welcome to the peaceful world of quilting!
Wednesday, June 24
5:00pm - 7:00pm
Join us on the first Wednesday of the month to learn how to hand-sew a quilt!
Welcome to the peaceful world of hand piecing a quilt block! In this on-going class, sewing mentor Maggie Kyar will explore various quilt blocks. Participants will learn how to read a pattern, draw the pattern pieces of each block and sew them together. At the end of these classes you will have enough blocks to make a throw size quilt (approximately 60 x 80 inches). We will then learn various finishing designs, how to quilt and how to bind. At the end of the first class the group should know how to piece a 9-patch block. We will begin by meeting on the 4th Wednesday of each month, then decide if we want to tackle two blocks per month or just continue with one block each month.
Instruction is provided free-of-charge but participants are responsible for supplying the materials needed for the class. Please stop by the Barnesville Public Library before the first class to pick up a copy of the information packet that includes the amount of fabric needed for the project.
Other materials needed for the first class:
- a piece of 100 grit or finer sandpaper
- clipboard to attach sandpaper
- clear ruler with 1/4" marking (some will be available to use in class)
- fabric yardage as described in the sampler information packet (3 colors to start)
- fabric scissors or rotary cutter (some will be available to use in class)
