Written by one of Norway's best known novelists, The Bell in the Lake is a historical fiction novel set in a small Norwegian village in the 1880's. Through the story of a young woman named Astrid, the local pastor, and an architecture student sent to transport the old church, the book discusses the conflict between tradition and modernity.
