Join us for a historical reenactment of Abraham Lincoln the night before his famous Gettysburg address, including a performance, history lesson, and Q&A, all provided by Chuck Johnson from Perham.
Join us to take a journey inside Abraham Lincoln's mind “The Night Before Gettysburg.” This reenactment focuses on Abraham Lincoln as he finishes writing the Gettysburg Address in his bedroom the night before the speech. "The Night Before Gettysburg" is written and performed by Chuck Johnson from Perham, MN. He wrote it in 2021 to compete in a 1-act play contest in Wadena. The play won the competition, and Destination Gettysburg in tracked him down a few days later to inquire about performing in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Johnson has performed in Gettsyburg in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
After the performance there will be a history lesson about Lincoln, and time for audience questions.
