Join the library and author Cary J. Griffith to discuss his book "Gunflint Falling" and the true accounts of what happened during the 1999 storm that tore across northern Minnesota.

In 2024, the Fargo-Moorhead area will mark the 25th anniversary of the 1999 storm that bore down on the region and left a wake of damage in its path as it traveled across northern Minnesota. Join Minnesota author Cary J. Griffith to discuss his book Gunflint Falling: Blowdown in the Boundary Waters, detailing first hand accounts from those that found themselves stranded and injured in the wake of the unexpected storm. He will also introduce his latest novel, Dead Catch.

Admission is free thanks in part to funding from the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.

About the branch

The Mahnomen library is located at 203 S Main St in the same building as the City Hall. The stone building was constructed in 1937 by the WPA and is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. The library offers public computers, in-house use laptops, free WiFi, and all the other amenities of a Lake Agassiz Regional Library Branch.
