Enjoy the Agassiz Environmental Learning Center trails while reading our "Reading is Timeless"-themed books.

The Fertile Public Library is collaborating with the Agassiz Environmental Learning Center and Polk County Public Health to host several of Story Strolls this summer featuring the theme "Reading is Timeless." Children and their families can visit the Agassiz Environmental Learning Center to explore marked trails while reading individual book pages displayed along the path. This partnership aims to combine literacy with outdoor activity, allowing participants to enjoy stories in a natural setting throughout the season.

To help continue these events, please Make It Count by having every person in your group grab a rock at the start of the trail. Use your rock to answer the question at the end of the book to help track participation. Additionally, the library would love for you to share photos of your group on the trail via our Facebook pages or by emailing them to fertile@larl.org.

Check with Fertile Public Library in person or on Facebook to find the location and when the book titles change. Dates TBD depending on volunteer availability.

Selected titles:

How to Draw a Tree by David LaRochelle. Check out the author's website for related activities!

When You Find the Right Rock by Mary Lyn Ray. Visit the Minnesota Geological Survey to learn about Minnesota rocks and message geologists questions. If you like the Virtual Egg Carton, ask at the Fertile Library Desk to see an in-person version!
