After the recent loss of her husband and the disappearance of her son thirty years prior, Tova Sullivan gets a job at the Sowell Bay Aquarium to keep herself occupied. She makes an unlikely friend in Marcellus, the aquarium's intelligent Pacific octopus. Together, the pair discover the truth about what happened to Tova's son all those years ago and just how important friendship is.
