Join the Hendrum LINK Site's Book Club for a discussion of West with Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge. Inspired by true events, this Amazon bestseller takes place in 1938, when the United States is at the end of the Great Depression and on the cusp of World War II. West with Giraffes follows Woodrow Wilson Nickel, an American man who embarks on a road trip to bring two giraffes to California after they survive a hurricane. The story follows his adventure with the animals and the people he meets along the way. Blending together reality and fiction, this heart felt story touches on the tenderness and love animals can bring to a person's life.
